Vision Statement:

We organize to form a community of trained leaders and institutions in relationship together for a shared public life where local communities control their own destinies.

The ICON builds power in four ways.  First, we seek to build a self-sustaining, broad-based organizing effort of people’s institutions.  Second, we intentionally build productive relationships with the leaders and people of those institutions.  Third, we organize these institutions and their larger communities around the issues they have identified to act upon.  Fourth, we train people how to negotiate and interact with those who hold official power, in order to bring about the change the people want to see.
